black and clear are great options as my skis (solomon 1080s) have black and graphics on the bottom. My other sticks (Odyssey Ogres) have an orange / yellow PTEX base and the clear looks so much better than black. Its inevitable that you will hit a rock at some point. I keep this, wax, and a scotch brite pad in my pack at all times. You can do a quick fix at lunch for any rocks hit and not waste time or money at the ski shop (they will do the exact same thing).
