The sides are attached, which I like because it made it sturdier. The material is thin but not flimsy. I think by design these types of organizers aren’t stiff so they can fold and fit under a bed. I bought this for my boyfriends size 11 shoes and had to fit one shoe in each pocket which works. If necessary just buy more than one. I have yet to find one big enough for both of his shoes in one…
Flimsier than anticipated Update: While my review below is still accurate, I recently went to pull this from under the bed using the attached handle, and the fabric ripped away from the zipper.Overall, this product does what it is supposed to do. It holds at least 12 pairs of shoes (I was able to fit two pairs of flats in one space) and the spaces are large enough for heels or wedges. It fits quite well under my bed and the plastic cover is a nice to keep dust and pet fur away.I am disappointed…
