The alpine asc-xt pole is identical to the asc-bc pole in construction except for the use of a taper 5083 aluminum shaft rather than a 7075 shaft. For most instances the 5083 shaft will meet backcountry skiing demands, however in those crazy wiper falls the 7075 shaft on the asc-bc pole will likely survive to ski another day more often than the asc-xt. It’s roughly a $10 choice. Your call. All other aspects of the two poles are identical save the paint job. The synthetic cork grip and wide nylon strap offer a secure grip and comfortable pushing and the round backcountry basket with a carbide tip provides superior support in deep snow and a good bite on hard icy surfaces. Available in nine sizes: 20, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 150, 155, and 160cm.
